Selling a bike at a garage sale?
I’ve got an older bike that I’m selling off at a garage sale and am just looking into what people think a reasonable asking price would be (don’t worry, I know it’s not worth much lol) It’s a ~1985 Specialized Rockhopper. It’s is great condition. I’m a bike mechanic and I refurbished most of the older parts and got it in good working order. It has little to no scratches on it and no rust anywhere, including the chain. Thanks for the help!
There are enough people that would be interested in an early rockhopper in nice condition to make advertising it separately (newspaper, craigslist, school bulletin board, etc) worthwhile.
Where I live, every cheapo emerges on Sat morning on their weekly garage sale spree. They want to see how much they can get for nothing. If someone did show up interested in a good bike, they’d make lowball offers until I got sick of saying Nope. Then they come around later in the day to see if they can make those same offers again.
If it’s a POS and you just want to unload it, then a garage sale is a fine venue for that. If it’s a decent bike, you’ll just end up selling it cheap to someone else that will flip it.
