Bike Fork Rack
Better to carry a bike in the car, or on a rack?
I have a roof rack on my Subaru Outback that mounts to the fork. However, I only use this when my car is full like on race day, otherwise I just put it in the back where the seats are folded down where I lay it on it’s side.
The question is, would it be better for me to put it on the roof, where it can more easily be damaged by pot holes, etc? Or should I keep it inside, where parts could be rubbing, or damaged in any way? I’m trying to look out for my bikes more as I get into high end road bikes.
And this is not for parking anywhere and leaving the bike, it is purely only for transporting it. So security is not a concern.
You should be able to accessorize your roof rack to carry a bike w/o damaging it.
If not, I recommend you buy a rack that mounts on the backdoor of your vehicle. Bikes carried inside the vehicle is looking for damage to the interior of your vehicle and/or your bike.
