Bike Forks Suspension
my push bike front suspension make a squeeking noise when is compressed into the forks?
this happens when i go over a slight bump or stand up and pedal. there seems to be no oil or lube on it so i don’t know the sollution… any ideas???
Holy crap…! Do NOT spray WD40 on your fork or get it into the lowers…!!!!!
If you have a coil spring fork, it could just be normal springy noises, or it could mean that they’re dry and in need of fresh grease. Both air and coil forks have seal wipers that help keep any oil inside and dust/water outside. If the lube on those wipers is dry, sometimes squirting in a little synthetic oil will help (silicone lubes are good, or any lightweight oil…but *not* wd40!). Try to squeeze open the rubber where it contacts the fork uppers and get some lube in there. Be careful not to tear it. If you can’t open them up, then you have to remove the wipers and lube the little foam thingy…..best to have a bike shop do this.
Some forks are just noisy…..some go squeak, some go squish, and some are rattley. Most are pretty silent, though, so give the lube a shot and see if that helps. If not, take it in to a bike shop for service. An overhaul with cleaning and fresh lube should cost you from $25 to $80 depending on the shop and the particular fork.
