I’ve just bought a pashley sovriegn princess bike. How do I use the fitted wheel lock? I can’t get the key out?

I’ve just bought a pashley sovriegn princess bike. How do I use the fitted wheel lock? I can’t get the key out. It won’t turn in either direction and I can’t pull it out either. Is it broken or is there something I need to do before it can come out?

I don’t have a Pashley, but I do have a Dutch Gazelle with a wheel lock. You should see a little lever on the top of the wheel lock assembly–or above where the key inserts, anyway. You need to move that lever to remove the key. Wheel locks are designed so that you have to move the lever (which will shoot a bar out between your spokes, making the wheel impossible to turn) to remove the key. Move that lever while you wiggle the key, and it will come out.

Conversely, when you put the key back in, you’ll push slightly on the lever, which will disengage the lock and hold the key back in place.
