Delta Bike Fork Mount

Delta Bike Hitch Locking Fork Mount
Works like a charm!
These fork mount clamps work like a charm. I ordered two to transport two bikes in my pickup truck. Got them mounted to a 2×10 piece of wood that was sitting in the backyard. I can throw the whole thing in my truck bed and remove with ease. Once you get the clamp adjusted to your fork, there’s no need to adjust it again. It is pretty tight when you loosen it to remove your bike. I have to get it a few love taps to loosen it from the fork once I have the clamp in the open position. Highly recommend this product for the price and quality. I would’ve loved to spend more on a Yakima clamp but I saved A LOT by going this route.

Delta Fork Mount
Excellent fork mount. Used it as part of a home-made car top carrier for my tandem. Drove over 700 miles without a problem.

Works well enough
Certainly mounts securely to my truck bedrails. However the axle compression mechanism was a little off. It works fine for my purposes, but I wouldnt trust it to hold a $3k mountain bike from thieves in downtown (city).
If all you are trying to do is transport a few bikes for the family or friends from the garage to the bike path, trails whatever this should be more than adequate. If you rely on your bike fork carrier for theft protection, invest in something from a larger company like Yakima or Thule.

Does the Job
The hitch does what it is suppose to. At first it looked kind of flimsy and I thought that my fork will slip out but the fork is locked in pretty tight. In my set up, I mounted the hitch to a 2×6 board which I lay in the truck bed. That way, I can remove the 2×6 and have use of the full bed without somthing sticking out. You will also need some way to secure the back wheel or it will swing around when you take sharp corners in your truck. I got a ratcheting cargo bar which I layed across the top of my back wheel to keep it in place and secured it with a velcro tye.
Only complaint I have is that the spacer tab (the tab next to the quick release) sticks and hard to move back and forth. I tried greasing that part and it helped some.
I recently looked at the Delta bike hitch pro2 at a bike shop, it costs $10 more but seems lot more sturdy and the mechanism seems to be lot smoother.

Good Investment
I purchased two of these bike mounts so that I could get me and my sons MTB’s mounted in the back of my pick up. The mechanism isn’t the smoothest but it open up wide enough that I don’t have to mess around with unscrewing it to get the bikes off. I mounted them onto the toolbox in the back of my truck and that worked great for my sons bike. My bike has the disc brakes so I had to use a piese of dee[ strut to mount to the tool box first to get me the clearance that I needed. If you compare the price to Thule or Yakima you’ll realize that you can buy 2 or 3 of these for the same price. So far I think its been a great product.

Price and quality can’t be beat
I bought this because it is lockable, it looked like it would mount perfectly to the utili-track system in my Nissan Frontier and it’s inexpensive compared to the competitors. Everything works great. It’s very sturdy and with my mountain bike mounted I can close the tailgate with a couple of inches to spare. It can be hard to open if you don’t adjust it correctly, but that means it’s more secure. I just throw a screwdriver in the truck bed in case I need to pry it open.
