Downhill Bike Racing
DH mountain bike fork on specialized hardrock?
I have a 2009 Specialized Hardrock (15 in.) and it is meant for XC but I do things like freeride, trail, and downhill and it’s not exactly the right style for me. Right now my fork has 80mm travel, I was wondering if it would be smart to put a Rockshox boXXer race on my bike. Would it work well?
Thats a huge fork for such a small bike. Your gonna bust the head tube off. Your putting a down hill fork on a bike with an XC/free ride frame. This means that the bikes frame is meant to have a smaller wheel base then the kind of bikes that fork is made for so it may not work properly. It will also be heavier than what you are used to. I would suggest going to a local bike shop and asking them if this is a good idea. If your are doing huge jumps or any extreme technical downhill then i would suggest going with a new bike.
