Gravity Stand Bike

A question about a seat, and suspension?
I am buying a 1982 yamaha XS 650 model D that i will be making minor changes to make into a cafe racer.
My problem is, when on the bike its somewhat uncomfortable at a stand still. I understand i wont be standing still all that often, it would be bearable. But if at all possible id like to alter it without changing the suspension. Most cafe seats ive seen have been rather thin, and i think would give me more leg room than the standard seat.
Is it possible to modify the frame? would that effect the performance of the bike similarly to changing the suspension? i fear this is so, considering weight would be distributed at a center of gravity on the bike.
What kind of changes in performance would you experience with altering suspension?
perfect, thank you!
DB has some very good sugestions.Altering the frame is a big no no.lowering the suspention is the safest and most productive way to increase performance.
the first thing you want to do is to establish your center of gravity.Stand the bike upon its wheels using two stands streach a string from axil to axil. With your weight on the bike the center of the crankshaft must be 2″ below the axil line.
To lower the rear suspention you can purchase or make lowering blocks that set the shocks back thus lowering the bike and increasing rear stability.
to lower the front suspention simlpy slip the fork legs up through the tripple trees to the desired hight. You will have to change your handel bars to clip-ons but they are readily avalable on ebay.
