Hybrid Tires Bike
How much do hybrid tires for a mountain bike as a commuter costs?
I have a Giant Boulder SE that has become my commuter. My mountain/trail tires are getting too worn too fast, and I heard there was something called a hybrid tire that will do both road and off road duty. Money is an issue so I need to know if they are worth it, and how much they cost.
The type of tire you’re looking for would be semi-slick mountain bike tires. Avoid hybrid tires for a MTB, as hybrids use skinnier and different size tires than a mountain bike. They won’t work.
If you want a pair of semi-slick tires, expect to pay $15-20 for each, or $30-40 for a pair. Good quality tires don’t wear out as fast. Avoid anything from a box/discount type store as they are junk.
Are they worth it? For most people, yes. Semi-slicks are faster than knobby tires on the road, yet can still be used off-road. They have less rolling resistance than knobbies.
