Mountain Bike Goggles
Triathlon Team?
I'm training for my first triathlon in October. I was wondering if someone could give me information about equipment triathlon. For example, I only have a mountain bike and do not know if these are allowed or have to be a racing bike. Also, in swimming are goggles and swim caps and things like that is required or I can wear a regular swimsuit. Mainly I'm just looking for basic information about equipment I have to have for my triathlon. Thanks
If you're doing a sprint distance and looking just to get through it, go ahead and use mountain biking. You're not going to win for the first time, so speed is not so important. Should not have to say, but the helmets are mandatory. If you are used to swimming in open water without glasses, I guess you're okay without that, though it would be very uncomfortable. Depending on water temperature, wetsuits are used by most competitors, again, more for speed than comfort unless the water is very cold. A normal swimwear is fine, but remember that there is usually no place to change clothes bike unless you iron distance, trunks as wide would be very uncomfortable to walk and run in. I do not know how feel about the speedometer, but that's what race in. There are usually short three available, which are like bike shorts with shorter legs. Those who not bad for swimming, either. Swim caps are generally issued by the race direction on specific colors to identify start waves. In the end, I suggest make a half-dozen races before you start spending a lot of money. There are many things you will learn about equipment that only by doing and seeing the other competitors who may could not explain here. USA Triathlon is the governing body of sport in the U.S..
