1. A three-piece suite was recently bought in a sale with 40% off the reccomended price of £1500. How much did the suite cost in the sale ?
2. Fiona had some work done at the garage on her car. The cost of the labour and parts came to £126. The garage then adds 17 and a half % VAT to the bill. What was her final bill ?
3. Ali works part-time in a local bakery. His hourly pay is £2.50 but this is soon to be increased by 5%. What will Ali expect to earn per hour ?
4. Nicola buys a mountain bike in a sale. The bike costs £225 originally, but the sale price is 20% off. How much does Nicola buy the mountain bike for ?
It would be helpful if you could explain to me how you worked these out.
