Mountain Bike Road Trip
How much difference do road tyres make on a mountain bike?
My current MTB has cheap knobbly tyres and I average 25km/h over a 50km ride in flat terrain. I want to go interstate road trip (100% sealed road 200+km) and am thinking of changing to cheap road tyres for the trip.
I put a pair of Specialized Cumulous (or something) on my old mountain bike to use it in the city. The fact is that on asphalt, 26-inch road slicks are *way* better than knobbies. They’re faster and corner better, and if the asphalt is wet, they’re just safer.
