New Bike Brakes Squeak

Why are the handlebars on my bike hard to press and why does the bike squeak whenever i press them.?

The handlebars on my bike are very hard to press. HOW CAN I FIX THAT? Then whenever i do so my bike squeaks very loud. HOW CAN I FIX THAT? The brakes take long to actually make the bike break. HOW CAN I FIX THAT?

Please give me reasonable answers and don’t say like “get a new bike” please

NEVER NEVER USE WD-40 on a bicycle! EVER! it is NOT a lubricant, it is a degreaser and even if it were a lube it would be too light anyway!

Dont you mean the brake levers?
The cables have stretched and the brakes need to be adjusted.
You have a “glaze ” on the rim (braking surface) and that makes for a bad stopping surface.
the pads are worn plum out….
Disc brakes or V brakes? Sounds like V brakes to me and they need to be serviced! Not a hard one to figure out.
