Presta Bike Valves
Presta Valves – Do I *need* them for my road bike?
I have a Cannondale road bike with Presta Valves. They seem really hard to inflate for some reason.
1) Is it possible to get regular valves for a road bike?
2) Is there some advantage to Presta Valves?
I am not super experienced – did a few triathlons and now want to start biking each morning for exercise.
But these valves make re-inflation a challenge.
(They take 90 PSI and start leaking – the tire says it needs 100-110).

1) I have a great pump (Specialized)
2) The connector broke and they provided a brand new one.
3) The pump works fine on the Presta until it gets to 90 PSI – then air starts leaking. It won’t go above 90 PSI.
Is there some safety setting on the Presta stem or maybe the Presta stem is broken?
Or maybe the new pump head is broken?

Get another pump or use a presta valve adapter. You don’t want to change the presta valve to a shrader, you would weaken the rim by drilling it out. Buy a good floor pump.
