help with soccer? getting better…?
hi, ive been playing club soccer for two years and after playing numerous sports for the last 7 years ive finally found my thing. im really good, fit, fast runner and have pretty good ball skills. not long ago my team vsed this other team who were coming 1st in the comp, and i saw this girl i used to do athletics with since i was six until i was 11. i asked her how long she had been playing soccer for and she said since she was six. and it showed in her game, perfect kicks, speed, good crosses and aweosme corner kicks with great spin.
since i was about 9 i played soccer with the boys at primary school but apart from that like i said ive only played soccer for two years.
i was wondering if anyone knew if/how i could catch up with people like her, eg better speed and better spin on the ball and stuff.
(i practice every afternoon and 4 out of 7 days in a week i go for a 5 km bike ride. i eat healthyly and exercise alot.)
any one have any ideas? it would really help.

Work on dribbling through cones to work on ball control. Once you get your ball control to a good level, the rest of the stuff will come much more naturally. You’ll be more comfortable with the ball if you have more control of it, which means you will improve your passes and everything. I like the bike riding for leg strength, but how about alternating between doing that and jogging with the ball at a fast pace? For example, one day do your biking, the other do some jogging with the soccer ball. It doesn’t seem like much, but trust me. The better your ball control the better your game. Also try to juggle the ball (like you’re playing hacky sack)
As for aim in your shooting and passing, I would suggest two things. For one, watch film of other soccer players. You need to know the proper form. If you don’t have the correct form when you shoot, the ball will either sail high, never leave the ground, or your shots will stray off in random directions. One thing you can do to work on your form yourself is either go to the nearest soccer fields and just shoot at the goal. If you don’t have a soccer field near you, just find a wall and get something you can use as a target that you can stick on the wall to aim at. Baseball bases work pretty well. Just hang them against a wall and try kicking the ball at them. So basically it boils down to this:
Keep up your conditioning. If you get tired, it doesn’t matter how good you are, you’re not gonna be much of a difference maker.
Work on your ball control. It doesn’t matter if you can shoot if you can’t control the ball.
Study film. They are pros for a reason. It doesn’t matter how hard you kick a soccer ball if you don’t have the proper form.
Also, I would suggest eating things like bananas because they help cramping. In a sport with as much running as soccer, you’re very succeptable to having your legs cramp up on you or getting shin splints. So you have to make sure that you eat plenty of bananas (personal favorite) or other fruits and drink A LOT of water. I’m sure you already did that anyways though.
