Road Bike Inner Tubes

Why do I keep getting a flat tire due to a hole at the base of valve stem?
I have a road bike. Tires are inflated to 120psi. Max is 130psi. I weigh 210 lbs. The only thing I can come up with is I weigh too much to have the tires at this pressure level. That or the inner tubes are not very high quality.
How are you inflating your tires? If you use a hand pump (frame pump, mini pump, etc) it’s really easy to get the valve rocking while you stroke away, and tearing a valve isn’t uncommon. If you use a full-sized pump (floor pump) this doesn’t usually happen.
Other than that, check the valve hole in the rim for burs or sharp edges that could be smoothed out with a file or sandpaper, and be sure the rim strip is in good shape, covering the hole. Also, if you happen to be running presta valves in a rim with a larger, schraeder valve hole, you need to install some rubber grommets or metal bushings that are available at most bike shops.
Your weight isn’t a problem, and the inflation pressure isn’t either. Even the cheap tubes are usually fine (in fact, many of the more expensive tubes are just rebadged cheapies, and a surprising amount of “brands” come out of the same factory to begin with). So check things carefully and try to go easy on the valve when you inflate the tire.
Good luck, hope this helps.
