1977/8 peugeot UO-10 worth?

i have a 1977/8 peugeot UO-10 road bike it is missing the original wheels and shifters but has newer ones off of an early eighties late 70′s bikes. i was wondering what the bike was worth. ive heard conflicting stories from different bike shop workers some whithin the same bike shop. found the catolog online but didnt learn much else from it. also i have not seen one of these for sale before and look all the time on craigslist in los angeles and have not seen one. any other info that you may have on the bike would be nice to just for general knowledge and what not. ive been trying to restore it but thinking if its worth the money now to keep or sell it. thanks

A Peugeot can be worth a lot just for the frame. Most interest in restoring old bikes will be in Fixed geared and Single speed builds. You would make a lot of money off of the frame if you can file off the cable tabs, derailluer hanger until it has clean lines. To make even more money strip the paint and find someone that can do a quality paint job. If it’s not worth your money to have someone at an autoshop (they will take 50-80 bucks cash on the side) to paint your frame, just strip it and prime it with enamel primer. The few hours of effort will get you an extra couple hundred dollars.

So to answer your question simply. $100 at least for the frame as is. If you strip it, $200 at least and if you file off the tabs and get it painted anywhere from $300-500 for the frame (depending on the paint job). It will be much easier to sell this frame for high costs on eBay or online offering reasonable shipping costs. Shipping will run you $30 within your country and $60ish to Canada via USPS.

If you sell it make sure to add all measurements and that is have horizontal drop outs. The drop outs are important for buyers wanting a fixie project bike or a vintage track/single speed. A bike that age should have diagonal drop outs, which work for those builds.

I would personally keep the bike and fix it up, but I’m a bike mechanic and if it fit a Peugeot would be my ideal frame of choice to rebuild a vintage fixed gear, single speed or road bike. But you could certainly make some money if you put some work into it.
